In One for the Rodeo, artist Shaima Moon (SHUSHU) explores motion, rhythm, and emotional tension through raw materials and minimal gestures. Using bold, intuitive brushstrokes in black acrylic on unprimed cotton.
Inspired by country music, Moon treats the brush like an instrument. With only one color and one stroke at a time, she lets feeling lead, not form. Among the monochromes, color emerges. These brighter, more playful works reflect a different side of the same story. This contrast between restraint and expression is central to Moon’s practice. One for the Rodeo is a visual study of archetypes and paradoxes, of elegance within chaos, softness within strength, and stillness within speed.
