Shaima SHUSHU Moon (b. 1996)

Step into  the world of Shushu, a Dutch-Egyptian artist based in Amsterdam. A curated balance between intuition and intention, exploring paradoxes like strength and softness, control and surrender, beauty and impermanence. Whether working on raw, unprimed textiles or paper, she uses bold, gestural brushstrokes to capture tension in both stillness and movement.

Shaima often draws inspiration from archetypes and cultural codes from the rawness of cowboy culture to the fluid elegance of Japanese art, always searching for what lies beneath the surface. She sees painting not as illustrating an idea, but as a process of revealing: following each line as it emerges, without forcing it into perfection.

In her recent series One for the Rodeo, she studies the power and grace hidden in abrupt motions, translating them into minimal marks that invite viewers to feel the paradox of control and chaos. Through all her work, she seeks to find beauty in what is unresolved and to give form to what often remains unseen.
